In the center of this pendant, a one carat round brilliant cut diamond is set within four compass set prongs and this placement helps to give the center a vaguely star-like quality while also flowing smoothly with the movement of other parts of the piece.
Above and below the center diamond, a round blue sapphire is partial bezel set, and these two stones total 1.17 carats combined. The way the arms of the setting wrap around the stone allows for the smooth flow of the design to continue, while the fact that it’s a partial bezel setting leaves space to allow more light in to reach the sapphires so they don’t appear too dark. Pendant Design and Diamond Accents
There are four curves of metal all together that make up the body of the pendant. These curl around the stones, and they only connect to each other below the diamond and sapphire settings, allowing for an open look and feel for the piece. We had initially used partial bezel settings for all of the stones in the pendant, but the clients decided they liked the more open look of the prong setting for the center while keeping the partial bezels for the sapphires to maintain the overall flow of the design.
As a finishing touch, round diamonds are bright cut set along the middle two arms of the pendant. These arms run between the sapphires and the diamond, with one on top of the center and the other on the bottom. These accent diamonds are tapered to fit in the space available, and they add a lovely hint of glamorous sparkle to the piece.
