Description
This lovely pendant depicts a chef’s knife, and it was created to match an image provided by a client from Highland Mills, NY. She wanted to create a special charm, and we worked with her through several stages of revision until we got the design just right. Although she couldn’t visit our Bellevue, WA location personally, we were able to complete this project to her total satisfaction working exclusively online thanks to the wonderful technological tools we have at our disposal.

Pendant Design
At the start of this project, the client uploaded a photo showing what she wanted her custom charm to look like. We combined that image with the information she gave us about how long and wide she wanted the charm to be, and then created high quality 3D proofs for her to review.
In order to make the pendant hang properly, we suggested she make it 1.25 inches long rather than the 1 inch she’d originally asked for. She approved this adjustment, and she also requested a change to the shape of the bale so that the charm would lie flat when worn. After finalizing these changes, we sent the pendant into production.

Customize
Use this design as a starting point for a custom piece.
Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.
Design and estimate
The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.
3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
