Rose and Bird
The main feature of this pendant is the organic design, which depicts a small bird hovering near a rose. The rose is made from pave set small white diamonds, while the stones that outline the bird are pave set canary yellow diamonds. The use of the two colors makes it easy to see the two elements of the design.
We used 111 white diamonds, totaling 0.45 carats, and 42 canary diamonds, totaling 0.16 carats, in this piece, and that allowed for the beautiful detail of the design. All of these stones are set in unplated white gold, and this allows them to sit as close together as possible while minimizing the amount of visible metal between them.
Black Onyx Background and Pendant Design
The gemstones stand out even more thanks to the dramatic black background that surrounds them. This is made from black onyx, and it adds immensely to the elegance and clarity of the design. Like the diamonds, the onyx sits on a round base made from unplated white gold, and this connects directly to the chain through a loop on the back at the top.
The black onyx is also inset into the base, and the white gold rim that frames it keeps it protected from the hazards of everyday wear. The diamonds do sit up above the onyx slightly, but they don’t extend beyond the rim, which minimizes the risk that they will be damaged or lost.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
