Although he couldn’t visit us personally in our Bellevue, WA showroom, we communicated with him through the online workroom created for his project to share our designs and get his feedback. In this way, we presented him with several options, and he eventually settled on this combination of features for an understated, masculine look.
Pendant Design
Our client didn’t have, at first, a clear idea of the shape he wanted for the pendant. We suggested the dog tag shape, and he agreed it was a good choice. He also decided he liked the more angular design rather than the rounded dog tag shape, and so that is what we used as the base of the piece.
The quote inscribed on the pendant was provided by our client, and it’s presented in a clear script that makes it easy to read.
Sapphire Accent
There are many ways to work gemstones into your design, and this is a good example of an accent stone that doesn’t dominate the piece but makes its presence felt nonetheless. The stone in question is a round blue sapphire that the client wanted to include to represent his wife’s signature, and we placed it at the end of the quote.
Its beautiful blue color contrasts just enough with the pendant to make it definitely noticeable. But its small size and the flush setting used ensure that it doesn’t overshadow the other design elements of the piece. Design Your Own Jewelry

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
