Diamond Center
The diamond at the center of this ring is a 0.33 carat Ideal square, and the bezel setting holding it in place follows its contours exactly. The initial model we sent the client had double claw prongs holding the diamond, but she wanted the look to be a little less angular, and so she asked to see what it would look like with the bezel instead.
The diamond is also set on its end, with one corner pointing down and another up. This orientation helps it integrate more smoothly into the organic pattern of the flower petals surrounding it, and the bezel setting softens the lines slightly as well. Maintaining the right balance between curved and angular was the main focus of the design process for the client, and changing the setting style contributed to this significantly.
Pendant Design
The body of the pendant is formed by two sets of four flower petals, one of which is oriented in the same way as the center diamond and the other of which is set at a 45 degree angle to that. Each of the flower petals overlaps and passes through the petal next to it, creating a gentle undulating movement that continues all the way around the piece.
The shape of the petals was something the client really wanted to make sure we got right, and she worked closely with our designer to accomplish it. This involved widening their middle section, as well as adjusting their curvature to make them appear full but not totally rounded. The end result was a pendant that perfectly matched her vision with 100% satisfaction.
