This elegant pendant features an oval ruby prong set in yellow gold, with a halo of split prong set diamonds surrounding it. The client we designed this for is from Kenmore, WA, and he initially came into our Bellevue, WA showroom to share his ideas about the type of piece he was envisioning. We created a model of the pendant we proposed to build, and after reviewing it online, he gave his approval to move it into production. Design Your Own Jewelry
The central gemstone in this piece is an oval ruby that the client provided. His wish was that we make a new and special setting to display the stone and highlight its stunning beauty. We developed this piece to do just that, and he was very happy with the way it turned out.
The large ruby is prong set in 18k yellow gold, and its rich red color contrasts beautifully with the warm tones of the metal. This combination also works with other elements of the design to reinforce the classical themes the client was interested in exploring, and it helps keep the ruby as the focus of the piece.
An oval halo of round split prong set diamonds surrounds the ruby in this piece. There are 42 diamonds in all, and the brilliant white sparkle they bring to the design helps to draw attention to the beauty of the large red gem at the center. The split prong setting also helps enhance the classical themes of the design, and the diamonds contrast delicately with the yellow gold they’re set in.
The back portion of the pendant has solid sides, which angle back in towards the point of the ruby. This ensures that only the gemstones are visible when the pendant is worn, and it protects the back of the stone at the same time. There is also a loop of metal on either side of the pendant, located just adjacent to the top prongs of the main setting, and these attach directly to the chain to keep the pendant centered.
