This elegant pendant features a pear shaped fancy yellow diamond bezel set and accented by an organic-style filigree basket. It was created for a client from Norfolk, VA, who reached out to us online to share his vision for the gift he wanted to give his wife. Yellow Diamond Center
The centerpiece of this pendant is a 1.01 carat pear shaped fancy yellow diamond. The client’s wife had specifically described this stone and the design to him on multiple occasions, and so he used the information she had shared over the years to help guide our design process.
The specific color of the diamond was one detail the client was quite concerned with getting right. Yellow diamonds range from light yellow at one end of the spectrum to fancy vivid yellow at the other, and he wanted something that would complement the metal color of the setting nicely but not be too intense at the same time. With this in mind, we recommended a few options in the fancy yellow to fancy intense yellow range, and he selected this stone as the best match to his vision. Pendants
Pendant Design and Filigree Basket
The front of the pendant is dominated by the diamond, which is framed beautifully by a sleek rim that surrounds it, making up the bezel setting. The diamond is oriented with the tip pointing upward, and it’s from the end of this tip that the body of the piece connects to the slender bale.
On the sides of the pendant, an elegant scroll filigree forms a basket protecting the back of the stone. This filigree integrates some leaf shapes to give it a more natural feel, as the client specified that his wife preferred organic themes. The openness of the basket also allows plenty of light to reach the center diamond from all sides, helping to increase its brilliance and prevent it from appearing too dark.

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
