The client initially reached out to us online to share some inspiration pieces with our team, as well as to ask for advice on some areas of the design. After an in-depth exchange with him surrounding the types of features he preferred and what mattered most to him in the layout of the ring, we developed some concept sketches and then a CAD model of the piece we proposed to make. Sapphire Center
The main gemstone in this ring is a 1.05 carat oval blue-green sapphire, and it’s held in place by four talon prongs. This was one of the main modifications the client requested in relation to his main inspiration piece, as that ring had a round diamond in a wrapped tension setting in the center. The client liked the more classical look of the prong setting better, and so we adapted the design to accommodate this. Sapphire Engagement Rings
Diamond and Filigree Accents
The only other gemstone in this ring is a 0.31 carat pear shaped diamond that’s bezel set on one of the shank shoulders just next to the large sapphire. This detail was preserved from the inspiration piece, and the client liked it because of its asymmetry, both in terms of the cut of the diamond and the placing of it on only one side of the center. The other shank shoulder is composed of two elegant filigree swirls, stacked one on top of the other, with the larger one closer to the center setting. This echoes the swirl of the bezel setting surrounding the pear shaped diamond on the other side without mirroring it exactly, giving the ring a nice flow and overall balance.
