Description

This stunning engagement ring features a cushion cut blue sapphire, surrounded by a diamond halo, and accented with diamonds and custom hand engraving. It was created for a client from Spring, TX, who used the Ring Builder feature on our website to share his preferences with us, so we designed a beautiful setting based on the elements he selected.

Center Sapphire and Halo

The center sapphire in this ring is 2.91 carats and exhibits a brilliant blue color. Our client asked for advice about how to orient it in the piece due to its elongated shape, and we advised him that having it sit lengthwise in line with the finger would be the most elegant choice. This is the preferred placement for a stone of this shape, as it helps make the finger it’s on look longer and more slender.

A halo of round bright cut set diamonds surrounds the sapphire, and these help increase the brilliance of the center stone by reflecting additional light back up onto it. They also contrast wonderfully with the rich blue of the larger stone, and this, combined with the use of split prongs to hold the sapphire in place, makes for a truly classic look. Diamond Accents

Bright cut set diamonds run down the shoulders of the split shank to the mid-point on the band, and a single pear shaped diamond sits on either side of the main setting. These pear shaped diamonds act as a bridge linking the center setting with the unique split shank, and the additional diamond accents complete the tie-in.

Hand Engraving and Milgrain

The space on the fronts of the ring and the top of the band below the accent diamonds is covered with a delicate hand-engraved pattern that the client selected. The engraving and diamonds are all lined with milgrain, including the diamonds in the halo, which helps bring unity to the piece.

A beautiful hand-made scroll filigree fills the space below the main setting and the pear shaped diamonds next to it. This complements the pattern of the engraving nicely, and it also ties in with the gentle curves of the band design to give the ring an overall balance and grace. Design Your Own Engagement Ring

Customize

Use this design as a starting point for a custom piece.

Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.

  1. Design and estimate

The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.

  2. 3D design review

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.

  3. Physical model

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.

  4. Approval and production

The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.

Diamond and gemstone selection
We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
Final inspection
Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
