He first came into our showroom to get the custom design process started, and then he collaborated with our team online to iron out all the details. He had some very definite ideas about what he wanted the center setting to look like, both immediately surrounding the main diamond and lower down where it connected to the shank, and we revised our models until it perfectly reflected his vision.
Asscher Cut Diamond
The diamond in the center of this ring is a 0.82 Asscher cut stone, and the bezel setting holding it in place works well to show off its unique shape. The Asscher cut produces a squared stone with cropped corners, similar to an emerald cut but with a higher crown and larger facets. Diamond Engagement Rings
This cut was popular around the turn of the 20th century, and it’s just recently begun making a comeback. That makes it a good option for a piece like this since the client was going for a more vintage look.
Diamond Halo
Encircling the center diamond is a slightly squared halo of smaller bright cut set diamonds. These add their own sparkle, and they also help to enhance the brilliance of the main stone by reflecting light back up onto it from below. While the halo is a popular choice in engagement rings these days, it does also work to emphasize the vintage theme.
Shank Features
The shank of this ring is slightly tapered, and it really widens at the top as it reaches up to cradle the center setting. Bright cut set diamonds run down the shoulders of the shank, the entirety of which is lined with milgrain for a truly antique look.
The final detail is the custom hand engraving which covers the lower portion of the shank three quarters of the way down. This is added by our skilled artisans as the last step in the production process, making it possible for us to reproduce almost any design or pattern you’d like to see.
