Diamond Solitaire
A diamond solitaire is a traditional choice when it comes to engagement rings, but that doesn’t mean that your ring has to look like everyone else’s. This piece is a perfect example of that, with a single 0.50 carat round brilliant cut diamond beautifully wrapped in a tension setting that arises naturally from the curves of the split criss-cross shank. Diamond Engagement Rings
Diamonds carry with them overtones of romantic love and unparalleled beauty, which makes them a wonderful choice as the centerpiece of such a special ring. However, if you wanted to customize this piece a bit by adding some color, you might consider a pink or champagne diamond, which would keep the symbolism intact while introducing a wonderful contrast and energy into the design.
Criss-cross Shank
The two strands that make up the shank of this piece begin together at the bottom. As they move up the sides, they quickly separate, curving outward slightly before coming back together to cross over each other as they transition into the center setting.
At this point, the strand passing underneath joins with its partner from the other side to form a loop directly below the center stone, while the top pieces thicken and wrap around opposite sides of the diamonds to create the tension setting holding it in place.
Custom Hand Engraving
The top strand of the shank on each side is engraved with a delicate scalloped pattern that works well with the flowing nature of the band to create a lovely overall effect. It begins right where the two strands split on either side, and it continues all the way up into the main setting, where it also serves to enhance the sparkle of the diamond. Hand Engraving
Hand-engraving like this is added as the final step in the production process by our skilled artisans, and that means you can expect an exquisite level of detail and precision in all of our fine custom pieces. It also allows you to customize the pattern of the engraving to a great degree, and we’re happy to show you examples of the various styles available if you’re not sure exactly how to get the look you’re going for.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
