He had developed a design himself that he wanted us to use to create his piece, and we modified it to make it structurally sound while incorporating his feedback throughout the process. Although the finished product was quite different from the original outline he came to us with, we were still able to work in the special symbols he wanted, and he was very happy with the way it turned out. Center Diamond and Setting
The centerpiece of this ring is a 0.71 carat round brilliant cut diamond. It’s cradled by four 18k white gold prongs that rise straight up from the split shank below. Just beneath the spot where they meet the diamond, these are joined by two more strands on each ring front that come up from a point right under the main diamond to form an “M” shape.
This was a detail that was very important to the client, and we made sure to integrate it in a way that he felt captured the look he was after. Split Shank and Diamond Accents
At the bottom, this ring has a knife edge, but it gradually rounds out as it moves up the sides, eventually becoming almost flat about halfway to the top. At this point, the center section of the band stays low and continues all the way below the center setting, while the strands on either side rise up to form the prongs of the main setting.
The center band is shared prong set with small round diamonds all the way up to just below the main setting on each side. Directly beneath the center diamond, the surface of the band features raised bumps to form a textured surface. This adds an interesting element to the piece, and it establishes a connection between the rows of diamonds on each side of the main setting.
