This exquisite engagement ring features a round blue sapphire prong set in platinum, with diamond and milgrain accents on the split wrapped shank. It was created for a client from Knoxville, TN, who reached out to us online to get the custom design process started.

He had found an inspiration piece he liked on our website, and he wanted us to customize it to hold his center stone. He initially indicated that he would have the stone set separately, but after considering it, decided to ship us the stone so that we could set it for him as well.
Sapphire Center
The centerpiece of this ring is a 3.20 carat round blue sapphire, and it rises up from the swirling split shank cradled in four claw prongs. The open setting allows light to hit the sapphire from all sides, intensifying its sparkle and highlighting its lovely color. The contrast with the brilliant white of the platinum helps the larger stone stand out as well, and the height and style of the setting work well with the overall organic themes of the piece.
Diamond and Milgrain Accents
Round bright cut set diamonds line the strands that wrap around the center setting, and these accent stones continue down one of the pieces on each of the shank shoulders. They end just at the spot where the two strands of the split shank separate at about the three-quarter point on the band. These are all lined with milgrain for a lovely bit of vintage flair. The way the shank wraps around the lower portion of the center setting, intertwining as it does so, creates somewhat of a modified halo. Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
