Description

This exquisite engagement ring features a cushion cut ruby surrounded by a diamond halo, with custom hand engraving and filigree accents. The design was developed for a couple from Seattle, WA, who initially reached out to us online to share their ideas for their dream ring.

Read the full description

With the information they gave us, we came up with an original design that they were very happy with. At their request, we also designed wedding band #101225 to go with this piece, and after getting final approval of the CAD images for both pieces, we turned the project over to our expert artisans to begin production.

Center Ruby and Halo

The stone in the center of this ring is a 0.71 carat cushion cut ruby, whose stunning fire is emphasized by the contrast with the brilliant white of the diamonds in the surrounding halo. The ruby is bezel set, and the diamonds are bright cut, a combination that helps give the ring a more classical feel.

Hand Engraving and Filigree

Both the top and the fronts of the spit shank are covered with beautiful hand engraving down to about the three-quarter point on the band. This is lined with milgrain beading for a bit of vintage flair and to give the ring a more finished look. A custom hand-made filigree in the shape of twisted rope also fills the space between the two split pieces of the shank as they move outward to wrap around the center setting. Customize

Use this design as a starting point for a custom piece.

Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.

  1. Design and estimate

The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.

  2. 3D design review

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.

  3. Physical model

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.

  4. Approval and production

The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.

Quality

Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

Structure and support
The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
Diamond and gemstone selection
We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
Final inspection
Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
