He then came into our Bellevue, WA showroom to look at some example pieces and to discuss the project further. At this point, we created a set of 3D models for him, which he provided feedback on, and we went through several sets of revisions until he found the combination of elements he liked best.
Center Setting
At the top of this ring sits a 0.43 carat round brilliant cut diamond in a six prong setting made of 14k white gold. The use of six prongs highlights the stone’s beautiful shape while still allowing plenty of light in, and the way the prongs come straight up from below gives the impression that the stone is being thrust up out of the shank. Shank Design
While the diamond may be the first thing that catches your attention when you see this ring, it’s the details in the band that really set it apart. This begins at the top, where the tapered cathedral shank meets the center setting as a point before widening gradually as it moves away, reaching its maximum width about half-way down.
The remainder of the band below this point is made up of custom filigree in a lovely organic pattern that incorporates vines and leaves. This brings a wonderful antique feel to the ring, and it works well with the center setting to cement a floral theme for the design.
Diamond Accents
Both shank shoulders are also lined with round bright cut set diamonds, which taper in size to match the contours of the band. These are framed beautifully with milgrain beading, and this continues down to run along the filigree as well, helping to unite all areas of the piece.
