Description
This dazzling engagement ring features an emerald cut diamond prong set atop a platinum Euroshank with bright cut set diamond and milgrain accents on the band. It was created for a client from Mercer Island, WA, who visited our Bellevue, WA showroom personally several times throughout the custom design process. He personally examined the diamond we selected for the center, and after seeing the 3D models of the piece we proposed to build, he quickly gave his approval to move things into production. Center Diamond
The centerpiece of this ring is a 1.91 carat emerald cut diamond. It’s prong set in platinum, oriented to sit lengthwise across the band, and the way the prongs curve up over the truncated corners of the stone helps accentuate the beauty of the cut.
An emerald cut stone is generally rectangular in shape, with a a flat table, cropped corners, and several step facets. The long, clean lines of this cut give the diamond an elegant and graceful look, and they contrast nicely in this particular piece with the rounded elements found elsewhere.
Diamond and Milgrain Accents
Round brilliant cut diamonds run down the shank shoulders, beginning right up against the main setting and ending at the mid-point on the band. Although the majority of these are arranged in a line down the side, there are five grouped together on each side right up against the center setting where the band is widest.
This detail helps to ease the transition from the wider diamond at the top to the relatively narrower band, and it also accentuates the soft curves of the band. A line of milgrain beading encircles all of the accent diamonds in this piece, framing them nicely and adding a bit of vintage flair along the way. Vintage Engagement Rings
Band Design
This ring also features what’s considered a Euroshank design, with somewhat squared corners on the lower part of the band. It is an especially popular choice for a ring with a large gemstone at the top, as it helps balance the piece and keep the ring upright so that the main diamond is always on display.
