This stunning engagement ring features a black diamond tension set in a split shank, with filigree accents and hand-engraved detailing. It was created for a client in Houston, TX, who took our design #1190 and made some adjustments in conjunction with our design team until he had a unique piece that he was truly happy with.

Black Diamond
The centerpiece of this ring is a gorgeous black diamond, round cut and tension set between the two ends of the split shank. Although diamonds are a traditional choice for engagement rings, the use of a black stone here adds some additional layers of meaning to the piece. Diamond Engagement Rings
Black diamonds are associated with certainty and passion, making them a great choice for a ring that represents all the wonderful elements in your relationship. The client actually provided this stone himself, and we built the ring and then set the stone to complete the piece.
Split Shank
The split shank design featured in this ring help give it a smooth, contemporary feel, and the way the ends of the shank reach up to hold the diamond makes for a stunning display. This type of setting really shows off the beauty of the stone from all angles, and the rich black contrasts nicely with the polished finish of the white gold band.
Filigree and Engraving
Exquisite hand engraving runs around the entire band on three sides, and the milgrain lining it helps provide a bit of vintage flair. This sense is reinforced by the lovely rose gold filigree found at the top of the shank near where the stone is set.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
