Description

This exquisite engagement ring features an elongated cushion cut black diamond prong set in rose gold and surrounded by a halo of shared prong set white diamonds. It was created for a client from San Francisco, CA, who came to us with a good idea of the type of ring he wanted for his fiancée-to-be. We developed an original design for him in CAD, and after clarifying a few details in conversation with our team through the online workroom we set up to manage the project, he gave his approval to move things into production. Black Diamond Center

The centerpiece of this ring is a 1.96 carat black diamond, and it’s held in place by four prongs made of 14k rose gold. The prongs meet the stone at its rounded corners, and they position it so that it lies lengthwise across the band. This arrangement helps to accentuate the elegant, elongated shape of the cushion cut, while the contrast between the rich black color of the diamond and the warmth of the metal adds to the beauty of each. Shared Prong Set Halo

A halo of shared prong set white diamonds surrounds the center setting, and it follows the contours of the black diamond closely. It fact, it’s almost tucked a bit below the center, which creates a tight look from the top down that minimizes the amount of metal visible between the stones and intensifies the contrast between the white diamonds in the halo and the larger black stone. Customization Options

To begin customizing a ring like this, you could choose your own distinctive centerpiece, taking into account the color, size and shape you’d like the main gemstone in your ring to have. Diamonds are a popular and traditional choice for this, but you could also explore other options including the many different colors of sapphire available. The shape of the center will have a major impact on the overall look and feel of the piece as well, and different options in this regard include round, oval, princess cut and emerald cut, among others.

Customize

Use this design as a starting point for a custom piece.

Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.

  1. Design and estimate

The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.

  2. 3D design review

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.

  3. Physical model

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.

  4. Approval and production

The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.

Quality

Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

Structure and support
The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
Diamond and gemstone selection
We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
Final inspection
Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
