We took this information and created a few sketches for him so that he could decide which direction he wanted to go. He also found a ring on our website that was close to what he wanted in certain ways, and we used this as a guide when building his piece as well. Even though the ring was a surprise, he was able to come into our Bellevue, WA showroom with his family to look at different rings and individual diamonds to make sure that his fiancée-to-be would love what we were building.
Center Setting
At the top of this ring is a 0.76 carat Ideal Square diamond, and it’s held in place by four squared prongs that complement its shape nicely. One of the main decisions our client was faced with during the custom design process was whether to go with an Ideal Square Diamond or a princess cut, and then which clarity and color to choose. To help him make the most informed choice, we showed him examples of both cuts in several different color grades, and he decided he loved this Ideal Square the best.
Completing the center setting are two trapezoid diamonds that are tension set on either side of the larger stone. These add sparkle from every angle, and their unique placement makes for an incredible effect when the ring is viewed straight on from the top.
Split Shank and Accents
The shank of this ring splits just below the mid-point on the band, and the two pieces move apart on a graceful curve until they meet the center setting. They each eventually form one of the prongs holding the main stone, and the round diamonds that are pave set on both the top and fronts of them end right at this point as well.
A lovely scroll pattern is hand-engraved on the lower portion of the shank below the split, and this serves as the perfect complement to the elegant lines found elsewhere in the ring. Both the accent diamonds and the hand-engraved sections are lined with milgrain beading for a lovely finishing touch and to reinforce the vintage overtones already present. Joseph Jewelry
Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
