18k Yellow Gold Custom Solitaire Tanzanite Engagement Ring
Item #102858 $4,165 Price does not include center stoneEngagement Ring Description
Tanzanite Solitaire
The center stone in this ring is a 1.08 carat tanzanite with a stunning blue fire. It is framed beautifully by the two edges of the split shank that come up to wrap around it, with one on top and one on the bottom. The client considered several options for the center stone, including blue zircon, which was used in his original inspiration piece.
Because this tanzanite is the only gemstone in the ring, it is considered a solitaire piece. This is a traditional choice for an engagement ring, and while diamonds are the most common gemstones used in this type of ring, choosing a gemstone with special significance to you as a couple as this client did can add a wonderful layer of meaning. Wrapped Shank and Filigree
The shank of this ring features a slight wave on each side as it moves from the bottom up towards the main setting. This was something the client requested because he had seen it in another ring and liked the way it looked. It did prevent us from engraving the message he had intended on the inside, however, due to how narrow the shank is and the way it curves.
There is a split in the band at about the one-quarter point, and this results in a larger section that thickens vertically as it moves to wrap around one side of the center tanzanite. The second, smaller section on each side stays lower, meeting the side of the center setting at a soft angle. This makes it seem like that piece passes through beneath the main stone to connect to the corresponding strand on the other side when the ring is viewed straight on from the top.
The space between these two strands on each of the shank shoulders is filled with a delicate curling filigree, the shape of which complements the overall flow of the band nicely. The client had also originally wanted to add some custom hand engraving to the outside of the ring, but he decided to wait and potentially do that later to mark an anniversary or another significant milestone in the relationship.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
