This stunning engagement ring features a specialty cut blue sapphire solitaire surrounded by a halo of diamonds, all set in platinum. It was originally created for a client from Seattle, WA, who wanted us to build the perfect ring to display the sapphire she already had. We coordinated with her both online and in person at our Bellevue, WA showroom to ensure the designs we came up with were exactly what she had envisioned.

Specialty Cut Sapphire
The stone at the center of this ring is a gorgeous blue sapphire. It’s displayed beautifully in a four prong setting which rises up from the criss-crossing strands of the band below. Its lovely blue color contrasts nicely with the polished platinum that makes up the rest of the ring, as well as the sparkling diamonds in the surrounding halo.
While diamonds are often thought of first when it comes to engagement rings, sapphires are also a popular choice. They offer a nice way to include some color in the piece, and they contribute overtones of purity, loyalty, faithfulness, and sincerity.
Diamond Halo
The halo of diamonds surrounding the sapphire in this ring is made up of 26 french-cut set stones, and that choice of setting really helps them stand out. They also work to enhance the beauty and sparkle of the center stone by reflecting additional light back up onto it.
Halos are a popular choice for many types of rings, and its use in this case allows diamonds to be incorporated into the design as well. Just like every other element of the ring, though, the choice of stone type, size, and cut, and the kind of setting used for the halo can greatly impact the overall appearance of the ring.

Design and estimate

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.

I've now had 4 custom pieces made at Joseph Jewelry. They are all fantastic. The latest a redo of my husband's wedding ring for our 15th wedding anniversary - I just picked up the finished ring yesterday. We had the ring redone once before (upgrading the center stone) at another jeweler. We weren't happy with the outcome, and I was nervous to try again. The new ring was perfect! Renae, our designer, was very patient, doing several drawings, answering all my questions. Danny gave great advice so I'd get just the look we had wanted in the first place. It couldn't have come out better! We've used another very well-regarded custom jeweler in Seattle previously - Joseph's work was superior, and a better value. We won't be going elsewhere in the future!
