Description
This elegant engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond accented by blue sapphires running down each of the shoulders of the platinum shank. It was created for a client from Carmichael, CA, who had very specific ideas about what he wanted for his fiancee. We collaborated with him extensively online to achieve this beautiful piece, every aspect of which held special meaning for the couple.

Center Diamond
At the center of this ring is a 0.62 carat round brilliant cut diamond which is held in place with four platinum prongs. The dimensions of the diamond, as well as all of the other stones in the ring, were chosen by the client in order to ensure that every element of the piece lined up exactly as he wanted it. Diamonds are a classic choice for an engagement ring, as they represent purity, love, and unparalleled beauty. They also bring wonderful brilliance and sparkle to any ring, and their extreme hardness enables them to stand up to the rigors of everyday wear without chipping or cracking as easily as some other stones would.
Sapphire Accents
The client chose blue sapphires as accent stones to match his fiancee’s eyes. Each shank shoulder holds three of these stones, and they taper in size as they move away from the diamond at the top. The specific size of the sapphires was important to the client as well, as he wanted to make sure all relative dimensions were consistent to maintain the smooth flow of the piece.
Shank Design
Below the center setting is custom filigree that shows the structure of a bowstring truss bridge, which was especially significant to the client as he is a structural engineer. It was very important to him that this element be included, and he worked closely with our team to get it just right.
The remainder of the band contains a rope twist design that unwinds as the sides move up towards the gemstone settings at the top. Just like everything else in this ring, the twisting motion of the rope was something the client wanted just so, and we used all of the technological tools at our disposal to make sure we had it exactly right before turning the design over to our highly-skilled artisans.

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
