Description
This lovely engagement ring features a round brilliant cut diamond prong set in a platinum band, with pink sapphire and custom metalwork accents. The design was developed for a client from Carnation, WA, who came into our Bellevue, WA showroom to get the process going, and then coordinated with our staff online to finalize the details.

Center Diamond
The centerpiece of this ring is a 1.01 carat diamond with exceptional sparkle and a perfect round shape. The client was very specific about the size and type of diamond he wanted, and we built the rest of the ring around this stone. Diamond Engagement Rings
The setting holding the diamond was adjusted several times during the design process in order to get just the look the client was going for. He initially wanted it lowered. But after seeing our initial renderings and exploring some options for filling the opening under the cathedral with filigree, he decided to raise it up again. Our process allows you to modify your design as many times as you like before your ring goes to production.
Split Shank
The split shank design was another element the client brought to the table early.
The split shank gives the piece a nice balance, as it allows the band to widen without becoming bulky as it approaches the center setting. This spacing helps to frame the diamond perfectly, and it also allows for a smooth transition from the band to the prongs holding the diamond in place.
Sapphire and Metalwork Accents
The shank itself is covered three quarters of the way around with a custom hand engraving that the client selected from some examples he found on our website. Its delicate swirling pattern gives the piece a bit of vintage flair, and it works well with the hand-made filigree that fills the space below the shoulders of the split shank as it rises up to meet the diamond.
The final touch is the pink sapphire accents, which are tucked just below the center diamond on both fronts of the ring. These round stones are bezel set, and their delicate pink color contrasts beautifully with the sparkling white of the diamond to add just a bit of romantic flair.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
