Center Diamond and Halo
The central diamond in this ring is round brilliant cut and 3.50 carats. It’s prong set in platinum in such a way that the prongs are minimally visible without sacrificing structural integrity. The maximization of the sparkle in this piece was of extreme importance to the client, and they wanted to make sure all metal elements that made up the center setting were as thin and delicate as possible. To this end, we chose a split prong setting for the diamonds in the halo surrounding the center, as this style requires very little metal around the stones. Using platinum also made it easier to secure such a large center stone thanks to this metal’s superior strength, and its brilliant white color helped it blend in seamlessly with the setting and surrounding halo. Diamond Accents
The shoulders of the split shank also hold split prong set diamond accents, and these tie in with those in the halo, helping to create a unified look for the ring. The use of the split prong setting again maximizes the sparkle of the diamonds on the band, and it gives the ring a nice bit of classical flair.
Band Design
The band itself is flat and smooth across the bottom, continuing this way until it reaches the half-way point. That’s where the accent diamonds begin, and it’s also where the split starts. The two strands that form here gradually move away from each other, opening up as they rise to meet the base of the halo just below where the prongs holding the main stone sit.
