The client initiated the custom design process by coming into our showroom and viewing some example pieces. During this visit, she found an inspiration piece she wanted to customize, and after several rounds of revisions to our CAD models, she gave approval for us to move her piece into production. Center Ruby
At the top of this ring sits a 1.16 carat oval ruby with a rich, deep color. It contrasts beautifully with the brilliant white of the platinum it’s set in, as well as with the many accent diamonds surrounding it. It is reminiscent of a flame burning eternally, and this adds wonderful overtones to such a significant piece.
Diamond Accents and Custom Filigree
There are five round diamonds shared prong set on each side of the center ruby, with two up against the larger stone itself and the remaining three descending onto the shank shoulder in a line. A band of metal extends out from the spot between the first and second of these inline diamonds on each side, and these hold smaller diamond accents that are all split prong set.
These two thinner strands wrap around the entire center setting, eventually connecting to the corresponding spot on the other side of the band. This creates somewhat of a modified halo effect, and it also plays off the oval shape of the larger ruby at the top to make the transition to the band more smooth.
As a finishing touch, a round diamond is bezel set in each ring front directly below the ruby and at the center of the custom filigree that extends across below the main setting. The shape of the filigree was of special importance to the client, and we revised our outline a few times to ensure it truly captured her vision. Custom Engagement Rings
Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
