Custom Split Shank Diamond Engagement Ring

Ideal Square Diamond
An Ideal square diamond is cut in such a way that it shines as brightly as possible thanks to the 68 symmetrically-aligned facets that reflect back out an astonishing amount of the light that comes in. They take much longer than a normal diamond to shape, and they also display a distinctive hearts and arrows pattern when viewed straight on from the top or bottom. Diamond Engagement Rings
The particular diamond in this ring is a 0.83 carat Ideal Square, and it’s prong set in platinum in such a way that two of its corners line up with the band. This positioning works well with the shape of the band, and it also helps to highlight the angular shape of the stone. The prongs themselves rise up out of various strands of the split shank to grasp the diamonds at its corners, framing it beautifully.
Shank Design
The two strands that make up the shank are joined together at the bottom, but they soon diverge as they move up the sides of the band. They cross back over each other as they near the center setting, and then separate again as each piece moves up to form one of the prongs holding the main diamond in place.
The criss-cross design of the shank introduces softer curves, as well as sharper angles where the two strands cross each other. This works well with the square shape of the center diamond and the angle that it’s set at to give the piece a sense of balance. There are also bright cut set diamonds running up one of the strands on each side, starting at the half-way point and continuing all the way up into the prong itself. Design Your Own Engagement Ring

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
