This gorgeous engagement ring features a large princess cut diamond prong set in platinum atop a narrow yellow gold shank. It was created for a client from Seattle, WA, who already had the center stone she wanted us to use, as well as a good idea of what she wanted the finished piece to look like. Design Your Own Engagement Ring
She began the custom design process by visiting our Bellevue, WA showroom personally to discuss her ideas. She then reviewed the details of the piece and requested adjustments to our models through the online workroom we set up to manage her project. Once the models were perfect, she dropped of her diamond and gave her final approval to move things into production.
The only gemstone in this ring is a 1.11 carat princess cut diamond that the client provided. It’s cradled in four platinum prongs that rise up smoothly from a single point on the band below. The prongs curl gently around the corners of the stone, holding it securely in place and protecting those corners at the same time. Solitaire Engagement Rings
This positioning of the prongs also helps accentuate the clean lines and beautiful cut of the stone. The fact that this is the only gemstone in the ring makes it a solitaire design, which is a very traditional choice for an engagement ring.
Although the entire center setting is made from platinum, the band itself is 14k yellow gold. The two-tone effect this creates gives the ring a subtle complexity, and it also helps enhance the contrast between the brilliant diamond and the warm tones of the band below. The client did ask about having the head made of part yellow gold and part platinum as an alternative, but due to structural concerns, we advised that this was the best option to get the look she was after.
