Yellow Sapphire Center
The client knew that he wanted a yellow stone for the center, and we suggested sapphire, as it’s nearly as hard as diamond and comes in a wide variety of colors and shades. He thought that was an excellent idea, and we sourced this beautiful stone for him.
It’s a 0.74 carat round yellow sapphire, and it’s held in a six-prong white gold setting. The six-prong setting was another element the client specifically selected, and he shared his inspiration for this with us, as well as how he wanted to modify it.
Accent Diamonds
On each side of the center stone, a pear shaped diamond is tucked at an angle, with the rounded end closest to the sapphire. These provide a beautiful sparkle and a great counterpoint to the large round sapphire at the top. They also facilitate a smooth transition into the shank portion of the ring by filling the space that opens up as the band moves to the side to wrap up around the center setting. That wrapped shank also features accent stones in the form of a line of round bright cut set diamonds that run all the way down to the mid-point on the band. These bring a classical elegance to the piece, while the lack of milgrain framing them reinforces the contemporary overtones of the design.
