After discussing his preferences with him, we developed a few concept sketches that incorporated many of his favorite elements. He chose the one he liked best, and we proceeded to the CAD portion of the process. We also grew a wax model of his ring, and he came into our Bellevue, WA showroom to view it in person before giving his final approval to move everything into production.
Center Setting and Halo
In the center of this ring, a 1.01 carat princess cut diamond sits in a four prong setting, surrounded by a square halo of bright cut set diamonds that add sparkle and a classical flair to the design. The clean lines of the halo highlight the perfect cut of the stone, and the additional light that’s reflected back up onto the larger diamond works to intensify its brilliance. Band Design and Diamond Accents
The band is wide and flat across the bottom, and it splits at the mid point on each side. The two strands that form here angle away from each other gradually, opening up a space between them that’s filled with elegant curls of hand-made filigree. Bright cut set diamonds run up each strand in a line, and a small princess cut diamond is set just next to the main setting in the space between the two strands on each side of the center. Halo Engagement Rings
All of the bright cut set accent diamonds, both on the shank and in the halo, are lined with milgrain beading for some added vintage flair. There are also six round diamonds bezel set on the ring fronts, with three on each side. Two sit directly below the center setting, and the other four mark the mid-points on the band on both sides. The client was particularly excited about this detail, as each diamond represented one of his children.
Custom Hand Engraving
The fronts of the ring hold a delicate pattern of custom hand engraving that complements the filigree found elsewhere nicely. This was a detail we included in some of the concept sketches we provided for him, and he decided he really liked the look. Because this type of metalwork is done by hand as the last step in the production process, it can be customized a great deal to help include a symbol or pattern with special significance to you and your partner, which is something to keep in mind as you move through the production process.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
