This stunning engagement ring features a cushion cut pink sapphire in the center, surrounded by a halo of diamonds, and set atop an ornate rose gold shank. It was created as part of a custom wedding set to go with wedding band #102286 for a client from Jacksonville, FL, who shared some inspiration pieces with us that we used as a basis for her design.

Although she couldn’t come into our Bellevue, WA showroom personally, we used the many technological tools at our disposal, as well as open communication facilitated by our online workrooms, to collaborate with her and exchange ideas. We shared our designs with her this way, and she provided feedback until we had everything exactly the way she wanted it.
Pink Sapphire Center
The stone at the center of this ring is a dazzling pink sapphire, held securely in a four prong setting. The bright pink color of the stone contrasts beautifully with the warmth of the rose gold to give the piece a bit of romantic flair, and it also balances out the brilliant white of the diamond accents nicely.
Sapphires have long been used in engagement rings, as they symbolize wisdom, purity, reliability, and truth. They’re an excellent choice as an alternative to a diamond in this role, and they also give you a good way to add some color to your ring. In addition to the pink used here, sapphires can also be found in many shades of blue, yellow, green, and more, and our experts will help you find the perfect stone to complete your ring.
Diamond Halo
Surrounding the center stone is a halo of bright cut set diamonds that help to intensify the beauty of the sapphire, while also adding some sparkle of their own. Halos first became popular in the middle of the 19th century, and while their use declined for a while, they’ve been making a comeback of late.
The halo in this ring is mostly squared to go with the shape of the center stone, but they come in all shapes and sizes. They’re generally made up of diamonds and used to accent a larger diamond or other gemstone by drawing in the eye and also by reflecting more light back up onto the center stone.
Hand Engraving and Other Accents
This ring includes many other details that work together to produce the vintage feel the client was after. These are things like the hand engraving in a lovely scroll pattern that covers much of the shank, and the delicate milgrain beading that borders it. There are also heart and scroll filigrees tucked beneath the center setting, all of which were important details that the client wanted to include to help make the piece more personally meaningful and representative of her relationship.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
