After our initial consultation, we developed two different versions of this ring for him, as he wanted to see what it would look like both with and without some small accent diamonds on the crossbars of the main setting. He also requested to see some renders of the two versions of the engagement ring paired with an eternity wedding band so that he could make a more informed decision, and he eventually decided to go with the classic solitaire look seen here. Oval Solitaire
The centerpiece of this ring is a 1.16 carat oval diamond, and it’s considered a solitaire as it’s the only gemstone in the piece. This is very traditional choice when it comes to engagement rings, and those classical overtones are only enhanced by the use of yellow gold for the setting and band. Solitaire Engagement Rings
The four 18k yellow gold prongs holding the diamond arise together from a single spot on top of the band. They then separate on a graceful curve, moving out and then up to cradle the diamond securely.
Matching Wedding Sets
Although we didn’t make a wedding band for this client at the same time as we made this engagement ring, he did make his design decisions with the aesthetics of the set in mind. In fact, he and his fiancee came back later to have both of their wedding bands made, and it was particularly important to them that all rings in the set have some shared features to create a symbolic link.
The ability to include shared features across all rings in a wedding set is one advantage to having your rings custom made, and our custom design process allows you the freedom to do so in many different ways. For instance, you can use the same types of metal or gemstones in all rings, or you can have a similar pattern custom hand engraved on your set. And even if you’re not sure exactly how you want to personalize your pieces, our experts will guide you through the process from start to finish to ensure you come away with rings that you’ll treasure forever.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
