Engagement Ring Description

This bold marquise diamond engagement ring features a marquise cut, set east-west in chevron prongs in a 14k yellow gold design. The wider section of the band has a sleek finish; on one edge a single line of diamond melees adorns the ring halfway through. From a finger view, the marquise gemstone looks as if it’s floating atop the band.

Marquise cut diamonds were popularized in the 18th century in the court of Louis XV in France who ordered the royal jewelers to design a diamond cut that resembles his lover’s lips, La Marquise de Pompadour. Also, the marquise is called “navette” cut, meaning “small boat” in French.
