This one-of-a-kind engagement ring was designed for our clients from Bellevue, WA. The project was first started in-store after viewing several options and examining closely the different metal types. Our designers introduced mokume choices, and our client leaned towards it. Mokume would be the perfect selection to spice up an engagement ring.

Our client followed up on the design, online, reviewing rendered images submitted to him by our designers. This was to better help them visualize the overall design. Solitaire Diamond in Tension Set
This ring features a 1.50 ctw diamond resting atop a circular basket, tension set between the inner walls of the shank’s upper part.
Solitaires give the sole attention to the main piece. The round cut brilliant diamond steals the show in this type of tension setting, where it appears to float from a bird’s eye view. When looked at from any perspective, this ring reflects finesse and extreme artistry.
The brilliance in this piece comes 100% from the center diamond and is accentuated by the organic form of the shank. All the action is happening at the center, where the shank meets the round diamond. The fusion of these two elements gives a striking character to the ring and its wearer.
Mokume Shank
The piece of art created by the mokume style takes this engagement ring to another level. Artistic design combined with highly skilled craftsmanship give life to this unique artwork.
A medley of palladium and white gold make up the mokume in this band. This mixed-metal design gives the ring a wood esthetic. Those different colored metals fuse together to form a billet, which is manipulated by the artisan to create the wood grain pattern.
Mokume, from Japanese, which translates to “wood grain metal,” requires high-level kills in a craftsman to be able to control it and tweak it in an artistic manner to give it its appeal. Mokume rings are like fingerprints, literally one-of-a-kind, which is part of their charm.
This engagement ring blends two special elements, the tension-set and mokume, giving the overall design an offbeat characteristic.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
Lifetime warranty and care

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
