Center Amethyst
At the top of this ring, a 0.40 carat pear-shaped amethyst is suspended above the band in a bezel setting made from 14k rose gold. The striking contrast between the beautiful purple sparkle of the stone and the warm, pinkish tones of the metal produces a truly beautiful look. The bezel setting also provides protection to all edges of the stone while simultaneously framing it nicely. Fashion Rings
While the use of rose gold and amethyst start this piece off in a somewhat vintage direction, the design of the center setting helps create a more contemporary feel for the piece. That's because, rather than having the amethyst lie lengthwise across the band, it's in line with it. This arrangement produces an asymmetrical center setting that catches the eye and highlights the lovely cut of the stone at the same time.
Diamond Accents and Band Design
Small round diamonds are split prong set down each shank shoulder, bringing an added layer of contrast and a burst of glamorous flair to the design at the same time. Altogether there are 14 diamonds in the ring, and they combine to total 0.11 carats. These lines of diamonds continue about one-third of the way down each shank's shoulder, and the remainder of the band is flat and polished to a high shine.
Customization Options
If you like the general outline of this piece but would like to make a few changes so that it better reflects your individual style, you could choose to use a marquise or round gemstone for the center rather than the pear-shaped amethyst used here. You may also want to choose a different type of stone, and there are plenty of wonderful options including diamonds, sapphires, topaz and more. Using a different type of metal for the setting and band is another option, as is selecting a different setting style for the accent stones on the shank.
