Custom Ruby And Diamond Fashion Ring
Item #103148Fashion Ring Description
Octopus Design
The clients had a very specific idea about the design they wanted incorporated into this piece. They shared several photos and sketches of the octopus shape they had in mind, which was based on a stuffed animal. They also knew they wanted it to be red, and we initially proposed forming the body from rose gold.
However, they decided that they wanted the red to be more vivid, and so we suggested pave setting rubies to achieve the look they wanted. They were very happy with this suggestion, and so we moved on to the CAD portion of the custom design process. At this point, they liked the general layout of the octopus, but they had a few minor adjustments they wanted to make to the placement of the eyes and mouth. They also requested that we shorten the legs slightly, and once everything was just right, they gave their approval for us to move into production.
White and Black Diamonds
There are two small round black diamonds in this piece, and they’re positioned to act as the eyes of the octopus. These are pave set in with the rubies, which allows them to stand out thanks to their color, but not overshadow the rest of the design. Custom Engagement Rings
The mouth of the octopus is formed from a round 0.04 carat hexagonal diamond that’s bezel set in platinum between and just below the eyes. The hexagonal shape of the diamond was something the clients specifically requested. and we were able to locate exactly one that would work in the way they wanted.
Pave Set Rubies
Two hundred and two small round rubies are pave set across the body and legs of the octopus to give it the brilliant red color the clients were hoping for. We initially had these set in rose gold, but after seeing versions with the various metal options available, the clients decided to go with all platinum to make the stones really stand out.

Joseph Jewelry
Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
