Skull and Band Design
The top of this ring is dominated by a representation of a skull carved in sterling silver and accented by oxidation to create dark and light areas. The main section of the face is black and textured, while the headdress that curls around the edges and extends down the band features more polished silver at its margins. Continuing down into the shank shoulders, feathers are carved, with dark and light sections helping to highlight the details of the carving. Fashion Rings
The band tapers dramatically, and the flow of the feathers facilitates that movement. This also allows for a large space at the top of the ring for the soul design to be fully explored, while still making for a narrow enough band at the bottom and a comfortable fit.
Diamond and Pearl
Right in the middle of the forehead of the skull, a 0.03 carat diamond is prong set within a nearly square section rotated to leave its corners at the compass positions. This allows it to anchor the headdress design, and it also makes for a striking visual presentation as the sparkle of the diamond stands out dramatically at the top of the skull design.
Behind the diamond and the headdress flourish, a carved Tahitian pearl is nestled, forming the top of the skull. This adds a subtle contrast with the rough surface of the face, as the cratered but shining surface of the pearl peeks through sections of polished metal to complete the piece.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
