After reviewing his options with him in terms of gemstone type and cut, we developed a set of proofs of his unique design in CAD. He reviewed these through the online workroom we set up to manage his project, and he requested some minor adjustments to the digital models until he was sure every detail was perfect.
Center Setting
At the top of this ring, a 1.61 carat princess cut yellow sapphire is bar set in 18k white gold. The client had a clear idea about how he wanted the center stone to look, and so we priced out several options with him until he settled on this one. He was particularly concerned that the stone be rectangular with pointed corners rather than the clipped ones of an emerald or radiant cut. With this in mind, we found a vendor to specially cut this sapphire to fit the ring and achieve precisely the look the client was hoping for. Men’s Custom Wedding Bands
Diamond Accents and Band Design
The band is flat and polished, and it tapers very slightly moving down each side towards the bottom. At its widest point, the band is the same width as the center stone, which was a detail that was significant to the client as well.
Three princess cut diamonds are channel set on either side of the main setting, with two side-by-side nearer to the stone, and the third centered directly below the first two. This produces a T shape with no metal showing between the stones, allowing the brilliant sparkle of the diamonds to have full effect. The diamonds also provide a striking contrast to the brilliant yellow of the sapphire at the top, adding to the contrast dynamic already at play in the piece.
