This elegant men’s wedding ring features a fleur de lis pattern engraved on the inner section, accented with black antiquing, and bordered on either side by unplated white gold rails. The couple came into our Bellevue, WA showroom to get the custom design process started. They had a clear idea about the kinds of rings they wanted, and we went over their options with them to make sure we were all on the same page. We then created high-quality CAD models of the pieces we proposed to build them, and they quickly approved these models so we could move into production.
Hand Engraving
The center section of this ring is laser engraved, with the fleur de lis pattern in relief and the background recessed. The client picked out the particular fleur de lis shape he wanted us to use, and we adjusted it to fit in the space available. The use of lasers for this type of engraving allowed for the exquisite precision seen here, and the shape of the border, with alternating angled ins and outs brings a smooth movement to the design.
Black Antiquing and Unplated White Gold
The background of the center section, as well as the grooves separating the main portion of the ring from the rails, features black antiquing, which helps highlight the pattern of the engraving as well as the elegant champagne color of the unplated white gold.
The type of treatment used to produce this effect can wear off over time, which is why we generally recommend placing it in recessed areas of a piece, as it is here. This helps protect it from the rigors of everyday wear, allowing you to minimize the amount of maintenance your ring will need over time.

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
