Men's Wedding Band Description

This stylish men’s wedding ring features an Asscher cut diamond set in a yellow gold band with a brushed finish. It was created as a custom order for a client from Bellevue, WA who found our design #100267 and wanted to make some adjustments so that it better fit his personal style. We worked with him to get all of the details just right, and the result was this stunning piece.

Asscher Diamond

The highlight of this ring is the single diamond, which is Asscher cut that sits nearly flush with the rest of the band. This particular cut produces a stone that is almost square but with the corners cropped, similar to an emerald cut. Because of some slight differences in the height of the crown and the size of the step facets, Asscher cut diamonds often appear more brilliant than emerald cut stones.

The Asscher cut was popular in the early 1900’s, but it fell out of favor towards the middle of the century and only lately began to make a comeback. Its inclusion here gives the piece a bit of an antique flair, as well as helping to make it stand out from the crowd.

Metal and Finish Combinations

The design our client took his inspiration from was for a platinum ring, but he preferred 18k yellow gold, and so that’s what we used for his. This change really makes to the sparkling white of the diamond stand out thanks to the contrasting colors, and the use of a brushed finish for the band only helps emphasize that difference.

While it’s not hard to see how changing the color of the metal used can impact the appearance of a piece, it can be surprising how much changing the finish can do along those same lines. For instance, the original design this one is modeled on featured a high polished finish, which produced a decidedly contemporary look when coupled with the brilliant white of the platinum. This ring, on the other hand, has much more of a classical feel thanks to the combination of yellow gold and the brushed finish.
