After discussing their ideas with one of our designers, they got to view CAD models of the designs we came up with online and provide feedback. Only when they were completely satisfied did we turn their project over to our skilled artisans to begin production.
Center Groove
The main feature of this ring is the center groove, which runs all the way around the band. It has curved contours, which helps to soften its appearance, even as it’s darkened by the matte effect created by the brushed finish.
The groove is slightly narrower than the rails, and these proportions were one of the major details the clients wanted to make sure came out just right. To better evaluate their options, they asked to see models with the center section the same width as the rails, as well as one with the 3/2/3 proportions seen here before making their final decision. Contrasting Finishes
To further enhance the separation between the groove and the rails, each section received a different type of finish. This allows the brushed surface inside the groove to maintain a textural contrast with the smooth, high polish on the rails, giving the design an additional layer of depth and complexity.
If you were interested in customizing this ring, experimenting with different finish combinations might be a good place to start. For instance, you could introduce a hammered texture on the rails to go along with the high polish for a more organic look. Or you could switch the arrangement of the matte and polished surfaces by giving the groove the high shine and keeping the outer portions of the piece brushed.
