Description
This enchanting men’s ring features a mountain and river motif, accented by a flush set blue sapphire and black antique on the sterling silver band. It was created for clients from Arlington, VA, who visited our Bellevue, WA showroom in person to begin the custom design process. We then worked with them to finalize all of the details through the online workroom we set up to manage the project. Mountain and River Design
Both edges of the ring are uneven to create a representation of a range of mountains. There is one particularly high peak, and this corresponds with the beginning of the river. This river cuts a path from the side of that mountain down through the middle of the ring all the way around the band, eventually curving down to the bottom edge of the ring right below its starting point.
The surface of the ring outside of the river is textured to make it represent the uneven ground the river passes through, while black antiquing was applied to the river itself to help distinguish it from the rest of the band. Small silver bumps representing stones poke up here and there from the surface of the river, and these are polished to enhance the contrast with the deep, dark water surrounding them. Blue Sapphire Accent
A round blue sapphire is flush set at a point just beyond where the bottom portion of the river exits the band, and this brings a burst of color to the design along with a glamorous sparkle. The sapphire stands out despite its 0.01 carat size, and its rich blue color reinforces the natural themes of the design as well.
One way to customize this ring might be to choose a different gemstone with particular meaning to you to use in place of the sapphire. You could also consider going with a different type of metal for the ring, or you could select a different combination of finishes to create the contrast between the two sections of the piece.

3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
