Custom Black Ruby And Diamond Mokume Men's Band
Item #104850Men's Wedding Band Description
Black Band
There are a few different options to use if you want black metal in your ring. Initially, the client's inspiration piece was zirconium, which stays black but cannot be resized. We presented several options to keep the black color, including black rhodium, and the client decided to go with oxidized silver. Oxidized silver requires some maintenance, but can be resized and re-polished. Although silver is a softer metal, the mokume gane inlay would keep the gemstones and ring secure as a whole.
Mokume Gane Inlay
Our designer sent several photo mock-ups to the client so that they could visualize different mokume patterns and combinations. They decided on a combination with rose gold, yellow gold, and silver, keeping it un-oxidized for now. This is something that can be completed later, if the client wishes. Mokume Rings
Mokume gane is an ancient technique that involves layering metals and then twisting them into a design. Every single mokume piece is entirely unique because it is hand layered. Men’s Custom Wedding Bands
Diamonds and Rubies
Finally, the client requested diamonds and rubies to be incorporated into his ring. These were especially significant to him and we ended up setting two flush rubies opposite each other inside the ring, with a diamond also flush set inside, and one on the outside centered in the mokume inlay.

Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
