Contrasting Finishes
The main feature of this ring is the groove that divides the top surface in half, and it’s made more pronounced by the use of a brushed finish on the two outer portions. This contrasts nicely with the high polish found in the groove and along the side rails. This brings a good balance to the design, and it also introduces a subtle complexity that gives the ring more depth.
Finish Options
The combination of brushed and polished finishes used here are not the only options, however. A hammered finish on the wider bands is also an option, and this would give the piece an even more interesting texture while still keeping the design low-key. On top of the hammered surface, you could stay with a brushed finish, or you could polish the entire ring for a more classical look.
A sandblasted finish is another option, and this creates a matte effect similar to the brushed finish, but with a slightly different aesthetic. Again, you can use this over the entire ring, or you can include it only on the raised surfaces or only in the groove, and it can be combined with a hammered finish as well.
Other Ways to Customize
This ring is made of platinum, but you could easily switch to a different type of metal like rose or yellow gold if you like the look of one of those better. You could also work in a small gemstone, either on the outside of the ring or tucked on the inside, to add color or to create a link with the women’s bands that make up the rest of the wedding set. 3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
