Description
This beautiful pendant features a gold cross, with a contoured halo of round split prong set diamond accents. It was created for a client from Mercer Island, WA with whom we’ve collaborated many times on various pieces of fine custom jewelry. She requested a budded cross, and we shared several different options with her, both in CAD and wax form. Pendant Design and Diamond Accents
The overall shape of this pendant is a budded cross, with the center area raised slightly, providing some texture and a more delicate look to the piece. Surrounding this raised section is a halo of round split prong set diamonds that follow the contours of the cross exactly.
These diamonds bring a lovely contrast to the design, and they add some sparkle without being overpowering thanks to their relatively small size. They also accentuate the shape of the cross, and they help separate the raised middle section more from the body of the pendant behind.
Gemstone and Metal Options
During the custom design process, the client wanted to see what the piece would look like with several different metal combinations and placements. One option was to have the center portion of the cross be made of white gold, with the back and the diamond settings in yellow gold. Alternately, we also showed her a model of a piece in yellow gold with the diamonds set in white gold.
This second option made the diamonds stand out much more thanks to the uniformity of color on the perimeter. Ultimately, though, the client decided she liked the look of the all yellow gold pendant with the diamonds also set in yellow gold. 3D design review
After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.
Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.
Lifetime warranty and care

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
