Description
This exquisite engagement ring features an emerald cut blue sapphire prong set in yellow gold, with diamond and milgrain accents. It was custom made for a client from Raphine, VA, who used our Ring Builder tool online to pick out the features he wanted included in his piece. We then developed this design for him, and after a few adjustments, he gave his approval to send it into production.

Sapphire Center
The main gemstone in this ring is a 2.77 carat blue sapphire. It has a wonderful blue color, and it contrasts beautifully with the brilliant white of the accent diamonds on the band.
While diamonds are often though of first as the go-to stone for engagement rings, sapphires are also an excellent and popular choice. They come in a range of colors, and they’re nearly as hard as diamonds, which helps them stand up well to the rigors of everyday wear. Sapphire Engagement Rings
Diamond and Milgrain Accents
The shoulders of the tapered shank are lined with round bright cut set diamonds that gradually increase in size as they move away from the center to stay consistent with the width of the band. These really help the sapphire stand out, as their sparkle provides the perfect counterpoint to the rich blue of the larger stone. The diamonds are also lined with delicate milgrain beading, which gives the ring a bit of vintage flair.
Band Design and Filigree
Our client originally wanted to include two round diamonds on the sides of the sapphire, but after seeing a first round of sketches, he decided to remove those and just stick with the smaller diamond accents. Below the center setting, swirls of filigree sit side by side, and they eventually unwind to form the prongs holding the center sapphire.
Nestled between the prongs on both ring fronts is a beautiful filigree heart. This is a wonderful personal detail, and its placement tucked on the sides of the ring makes it a more private and subtle addition to the piece. Design Your Own Engagement Ring

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
