Center Diamond
The main stone in this ring is a one carat round brilliant cut diamond, and it’s held securely by four 18k white gold prongs. It rises up slightly above the shoulders of the cathedral shank, a position that ensures the diamond really stands out but is also protected from the dangers of everyday wear. Tri-leaf Design
The shoulders of the shank are made up of a ti-leaf pattern, with two leaves extending up towards the main setting and the other leaf pointing down towards the middle of the shank. This arrangement helps the band to naturally widen as it reaches the larger diamond at the top, and it also ties in nicely with the patterns in the engraving and filigree found in other areas of the piece.
Each leaf holds two bright cut set diamonds, which help to add some sparkle to the ring, and also work to emphasize that particular design aspect. For a bit of vintage flair, these are lined with milgrain beading, which also extends down along the rest of the shank to frame the hand-engraving. Vintage Engagement Rings
Engraving and Filigree
Lovely scroll filigree fills the spaces below both the main setting and the leaves on the shank shoulders. A delicate wheat pattern is hand engraved on the rest of the shank, covering both the fronts of the ring and the top almost all the way down to the bottom of the shank. A small space is left there to accommodate re-sizing if it’s necessary. Physical model
A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
Quality
Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.
- Structure and support
- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.
- Diamond and gemstone selection
- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
