Description

This classic engagement ring features a radiant cut blue sapphire prong set in platinum, with channel set diamond accents. The design was developed in collaboration with a client who communicated with our team primarily online while he was stationed overseas. Although he wasn’t able to come into our Bellevue, WA showroom personally until the piece was complete, the skills of our designers and the high-tech tools we have at our disposal ensured that the ring he created for his fiancée was exactly what he wanted in every way. Sapphire Center

The 1.89 carat blue sapphire at the center of this ring is radiant cut, which gives it a rectangular shape with truncated corners. It’s framed beautifully by the four low-profile platinum prongs holding it in place, as their shape and the angle of their placement complement its contours nicely. Sapphire Engagement Rings

While diamonds are often thought of first as the traditional gemstones to use in engagement rings, sapphires are frequently used in this way as well. They are nearly as hard as diamonds, making them a good choice for a piece of jewelry that will be worn every day, and they come in a wide variety of colors, which opens up many more design possibilities.

Diamond Accents

Even though the main stone in this ring isn’t a diamond, our client liked the idea of working them into the design in some way, although he wasn’t set on the placement or the type of cut he wanted when he first came to us. After exploring several options, he eventually settled on the arrangement seen here, with seven round channel set diamonds, slightly tapering in size, running down each shank shoulder.

The combination of round stones with a channel setting really enhances the classical feel of the piece, and the diamonds themselves contrast beautifully with the rich blue of the sapphire. The way that they taper slightly also goes along with the gentle widening of the band as it nears the center setting, and this gives the ring a wonderful balance and grace.

Customize

Use this design as a starting point for a custom piece.

Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.

  1. Design and estimate

The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.

  2. 3D design review

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.

  3. Physical model

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.

  4. Approval and production

The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
