Description

This elegant engagement ring features a round ruby tension set in a wrapped rose gold shank. It originated as a custom design for a client from Sammamish, WA, who worked primarily with our staff onsite in our Bellevue, WA showroom to go over options for her piece and finalize the details of the design.

Ruby Center

The stone at the center of this ring is a one carat round ruby with a rich red color and just a hit of pink. It’s complemented wonderfully by the warmth of the 14k rose gold that makes up the shank, and that combination also helps to give the piece a bit of romantic flair.

Rubies bring wonderful overtones to a piece like this, as they’re associated with passionate love and commitment, as well as energy and vitality. That makes them a great alternative to the more traditional diamond as the centerpiece of an engagement ring, and so something to consider if you’re interested in pursuing a design a bit off the beaten path.

Wrapped Shank

The other main feature of this ring is the wrapped shank, which twists as it reaches the top to wrap around the center gem and hold it securely in place. The shank is squared all the way around, but it widens and thins out as it nears the gemstone in order to provide better support and also to give the piece a bit of a classical flair.

Customization Options

If you like this design but want to make some changes to put your personal mark on it, our staff is here to help. We can make suggestions and incorporate your ideas into an adapted design that maintains the spirit of this ring while also expressing your individuality.

Some options for customization include adding engraving to the shank in a pattern of your choice. Our expert artisans complete this type of detail by hand as the last step in the production process, so we can include a unique pattern or design with particular meaning for you.

You may also want to explore different metal and gemstone combinations. For example, keeping all design elements the same but using a diamond in place of the ruby and making the shank platinum instead of rose gold would really give the ring more of a modern look.

And those are only a few of the ways you can alter the ring slightly to make it more your own. But no matter what you choose or what style you’d like to go with, our team will work closely with you every step of the way to ensure that the piece we make for you is exactly what you were envisioning.

Customize

Use this design as a starting point for a custom piece.

Discuss the stones, metal, proportions, setting and finish with a designer, online or in our Seattle and Bellevue showrooms. You can bring reference photographs or your own stone for us to assess.

  1. Design and estimate

The initial design and estimate are free, with no obligation. Your designer discusses the materials, changes and budget with you before you commit.

  2. 3D design review

After you accept the estimate and make a down payment, we create a 3D CAD model and rendered views. Revisions within the initial design parameters are included; changes to materials or their amounts are re-estimated.

  3. Physical model

A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.

  4. Approval and production

The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.
