This exquisite engagement ring features a round ruby prong set atop a rose gold shank, surrounded by a diamond halo and accented with custom hand engraving. The design was developed for a client from Mount Vernon, IN, who found our ring #100385 online and wanted to personalize it for his fiancee.

Although he could never come into our Bellevue, WA showroom personally, the technological tools we use for every custom project ensured that he was completely satisfied with the piece we produced for him. In fact, he and his fiancee liked the engagement ring so much that they came back to us to make a custom wedding band to match.
Ruby Center
The main stone in this ring is a 1.12 carat round ruby with a rich red color that’s really complemented nicely by the warm rose gold of the band. It’s prong set, which leaves the sides open so that as much of the stone as possible can be seen from every angle.
While they are not commonly found in engagement rings these days, rubies actually have a long and storied history in that role. They are associated with passion and a faithful commitment, which are wonderful overtones to add to such a special ring.
Diamond Halo and Accents
Surrounding the ruby is a halo of bright cut set round diamonds that add sparkle as well as contrast to the design. The corresponding stones in the client’s inspiration piece were slightly larger, but he requested that we make them smaller and use more of them to narrow the halo and create the look he knew his fiancee would love.
Three tapered bright cut set diamonds are also found on each shank shoulder right next to the main setting, and these help to tie the two parts of the ring together nicely. In addition to their beautiful sparkle, the diamonds also bring their traditional symbolism to the piece, which includes sentiments of eternal love and unmatched beauty.
Hand Engraving and Milgrain
The diamonds in the halo, as well as those on the shank shoulders, are lined with milgrain, and this continues down to border the hand engraving that covers most of the lower band as well. The engraving is in a beautiful wheat pattern, and its exquisite detail is a reflection of the skill of our expert artisans. The fact that this type of feature is added by hand as the last step in the production process also means that you can use it to include a pattern or design with special significance to you. A full-size wax model can be made to review scale, shape and proportions before production. It can be viewed in a showroom or shipped to you.
Approval and production
The design is approved before production begins. Your designer confirms the schedule, and our jewelers make, set and finish the piece.

Our custom jewelry follows design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support and setting security.

- The setting must have enough metal to support the stones and hold its shape through everyday wear. If an area needs more support, we address it before production.

- We help you choose stones for your custom design, reviewing cut, color, clarity, consistency and fit. Your budget guides these choices; our standards for materials and craftsmanship remain the same.
- Final inspection
- Before completion, we review each custom piece for proportion, comfort, stone security and finish.

Coverage conditions
For Joseph Jewelry custom pieces, coverage begins with your signature. To keep it active, Joseph Jewelry must inspect and sign for your piece every six months and perform recommended repairs and maintenance.
Repairs due to normal wear and tear are the owner's responsibility. Damage, abuse or alterations can void coverage. Customers outside Washington pay shipping both ways for inspections or repairs, plus applicable duty or customs fees.
