Custom Black Ceramic Plated Sapphire Ruby And Diamond Fashion Ring
Item #102847Fashion Ring Description
She shared photos of rings she liked with us, as well as her ideas about how she wanted her piece to turn out. We provided her with various options to achieve the type of look she was going for, and after a few revisions in the custom design process, she approved the design seen here to move into production.
Sapphire Center
The emerald cut sapphire at the center of this piece is 19.11 carats, and it’s rich blue color is only intensified by the black ceramic plating on the sterling silver it’s set in. The channel setting holding it in place serves to protect the stone while also providing a structural framework for the elegant organic filigree that fills the space on the shoulders of the split shank.
The client initially asked for a partial bezel setting, but after seeing our first round of designs, she inquired about ways the sides could be made to look less “industrial”. We presented her with several options to accomplish this, including using a prong setting for the center stone, or using a setting style like this. She fell in love with the way the filigree in this example came up around the edge of the stone, and so she opted to move in this direction.
Filigree and Gemstone Accents
The filigree design was something the client spent a lot of time researching as well. She provided us with several examples of designs she liked, and we incorporated elements of these into the flowing pattern seen here. She also wanted some small diamonds and rubies worked into the filigree to add just a bit of sparkle, and we were able to accommodate this request. Design Your Own Ring
Band Design
The color of the band was another element that was very important to the client. She wanted to make sure it was as dark as possible, and we informed her that the best way for us to accomplish this was to apply black ceramic plating to a sterling silver ring. She was happy with this option, and our artisans were able to achieve a smooth, even application of the ceramic plating as the finishing touch on a truly exquisite piece.
Customizing This Design
Any Joseph Jewelry item can be customized or used as the starting point for a new custom design. The gemstones, metal, proportions, setting style, surface details, and overall profile can be adjusted to better match your preferences, style, and budget.
Every custom piece begins with a conversation about what you want to create and what matters most to you. You work one-on-one with a designer to refine the concept, review the design direction, and create a detailed 3D CAD image of the item before it is made.
After the design is approved, we can create a wax model so you can review the piece physically. This step helps you evaluate scale, proportions, shape, and overall presence before final production begins.
Once the wax model is approved, our jewelers craft the finished piece with attention to structure, finish, stone security, and long-term wear. Each adjustment is reviewed carefully so the final item feels intentional, balanced, and made specifically for you.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before starting. If you like this item but want to change the stone, metal, size, shape, width, engraving, or overall style, we can guide those decisions through the custom design process.
Quality & Craftsmanship
At Joseph Jewelry, quality begins with the structure. We follow strict design and construction standards for metal thickness, weight, stone support, setting security, and long-term durability. These details help ensure the item is substantial enough for everyday wear while still maintaining a refined appearance.
We do not design custom jewelry to be unnecessarily thin or fragile. If a setting, band, gallery, or accent detail needs more support, we address it before production begins. The goal is to protect the stones, preserve the shape of the ring, and create a piece that can be worn confidently over time.
Gemstone selection is also part of our quality process. We help choose the center stone, side stones, and melee diamonds used in each ring, reviewing them for cut, color, clarity, consistency, and how well they fit the design. Even when a ring is designed around a specific budget, we maintain careful standards for the materials and craftsmanship that determine the quality of the finished piece.
Before completion, each custom piece is reviewed for proportion, comfort, stone security, finishing, and long-term wear.
Care & Warranty
All Joseph Jewelry custom pieces are supported by our lifetime warranty. We also provide long-term care, including complimentary cleaning and regular inspection, so your jewelry can be maintained properly over time.
Routine inspection is especially valuable for pieces worn every day. It allows the setting, stones, and overall structure to be checked as the jewelry is worn.
